Below is a summary of the course which is unique amongst the Jack Nicklaus courses. The course offers wide fairways with difficult to approach, tricky greens protected by well positioned bunkers. The golf course has the feel of wide open spaces with stunning mountain backdrops.
First Hole - 401 metres par 4 A downhill tee shot shortens this hole. The fairway has a large deep bunker on the left and numerous smaller bunkers on the right. A large bunker protects the green which has gentle contours. Second Hole - 516 metres par 5 The right side of the hole is protected by a series of bunkers while the rough is close to the left side. The fairway tapers quickly before the first landing area with bunkers on the right. A long tee shot clearing this narrow channel will make the green very reachable in two shots. The second landing area is protected by two groups of bunkers while the green is guarded by a bunker on the left. Third Hole - 363 metres par 4 An uphill tee shot makes the hole play much longer. The fairway has a large bunker on the inside left with additional bunkers surrounding the hole. A large bunker protects the right section of the green with another smaller bunker on the left. Fourth Hole - 479 metres par 5 A downhill tee shot shortens this hole. Again a good tee shot makes the green reachable in two shots. A long tee shot down the left will clear the two bunkers although a shot down the right is the safe option. Those playing to the left will then be faced with a tricky shot over the edge of the lake to the green. Golfers laying up should get as close to the lake as possible for an easier shot to the green. Fifth Hole - 188 metres par 3 While the hole plays over the corner of the lake it should not really be an issue. The green is protected by three bunkers. The green features several contours; avoiding the bunker requires the correct green positioning. Sixth Hole - 385 metres par 4 This hole plays down the hill to a narrow fairway. A group of three bunkers protects the left side so the decision is to lay up short or head right to the lower part of the fairway. The aggressive shot eases the approach to the green whilst those laying up short will have an open angle to this green which contours down to the left. Seventh Hole - 177 metres par 3 This hole plays over the large lake to one of the most severely contoured greens on the course. A group of bunkers hugs the left of the green, but they come into play for those not wishing to take on the lake. Another bunker is placed to the right of the green to stop balls from rolling into the lake. Eighth Hole - 336 metres par 4 This short hole features a large bunker to the left of the fairway and two smaller bunkers out to the right. The large green features a severe elevation change in the middle and is best approached from the right. A large bunker guards the left of the green while another bunker sits along the right side of the green. Ninth Hole - 369 metres par 4 The tee shot is played over the corner of the large lake. Shot length is key to taking on the lake; how much of the lake to take on is the decision here. A small bunker lies left of this long narrowish green. The green is guarded on the right by the lake. Tenth Hole - 322 metres par 4 There are numerous bunkers creating many different routes to the green with a bunker in the centre of the fairway dictating play. The green is both small and tricky given the nature of its contours. Shots coming from the left should have a better chance of holding the green’s slope. Eleventh Hole - 488 metres par 5 The tee shot is played downhill to a fairway featuring a large bunker on the right and two bunkers on the left. A precise shot through the bunkers offers a chase to reach the green in two shots. The stream cuts between the landing areas giving players the option to lay up short or carry to the fairway area beyond. The green has a very narrow entrance. Twelfth Hole - 352 metres par 4 This shorter hole is protected on the left by a series of bunkers. Those playing a precise tee shot along the bunkers will have a better view of the green. Players electing to play safe out to the right side of the fairway will find that the hillside obstructs their view of most of the green. A bunker guards the left side of the green. Thirteenth Hole - 360 metres par 4 A fairway bunker protects the very narrow upper fairway whilst a more conservative shot would be down the right. Those making the play to the upper fairway on the left will have the best angle into the full length of the green. The front section of this green slopes away from those coming from the right, making it difficult to hold the approach on the green. Fourteenth Hole - 476 metres par 5 This hole plays uphill and weaves its way through a series of bunkers. The left side of the fairway is guarded by two bunkers while a collection of bunkers frame the right side. A set of cross fairway bunkers dictates the second shot. The green is just about reachable in two shots although most will lay up short to ensure an easier shot to the green. Fifteenth Hole - 190 metres par 3 This hole plays downhill to a long shallow green. A series of bunkers hug the front and right of the green. The green features some of the most unique contours on the course creating numerous interesting pin positions. Sixteenth Hole - 348 metres par 4 Tee shots will have to find the narrow fairway squeezed between a series of bunkers and the lake. Two bunkers sit to the front and right of the green making the left side of the fairway the easier route. The green is, for this course, reasonably flat. Seventeenth Hole - 198 metres par 3 Players that can carry the large bunker can easily run their shot up into the green. A smaller bunker guards the left side of the green. A large clump of olive trees sits to the right side of the green while the left side of the green falls off to a flatter area. Eighteenth Hole - 408 metres par 4 The tee shot of this hole is played over the edge of the lake to a fairway guarded by three bunkers. The green sits on the edge of the lake and is surrounded by bunkers, the deepest of which are on the left. The green features a strong elevation change and players will want to make sure they play to the correct level. Practice Area The practice area has been designed to focus on iron play and short game skills. The range has three target areas that mimic the style of the course and bunkers. The practice area also has both a large practice putting green as well as a separate short game and chipping green.
